Charter School Leaders Elected
Congratulations to the six outstanding Charter School Leaders who were elected by Member School Leaders at last night’s Annual Meeting and will take office in January!
- John Goldman, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer for William E. Doar, Jr. Public Charter School for the Performing Arts
- Donald L. Hense, Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Friendship Public Charter School
- Allison Kokkoros, Principal of the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School
- Lucretia Murphy, Ph.D., Executive Director of the See Forever Foundation – Maya Angelou Public Charter School
- Regina L. Rodriguez, Ed.D., Co-Founder and Head of School for National Collegiate Preparatory Public Charter High School
- Joaquin R. Tamayo, Jr., Principal (11th and 12th Grades) at the Capitol Hill campus of the Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools
The Association’s current 14-Member Board of Directors is led by Co-Chairs Linda Moore and Jenny DuFresne, Vice Chair Alice Rivlin, Secretary Allison Kokkoros, and Treasurer Donald Hense.
Elected by their colleagues directly at the Annual Meeting of the Association, Charter School Leaders constitutionally comprise at least fifty-one percent of the Board’s Membership. Currently, the elected School Leaders are Jenny DuFresne (Septima Clark PCS), Donald Hense (Friendship PCS), Norman Johnson (IDEA PCS), Allison Kokkoros (Carlos Rosario International PCS), Linda Moore (Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom PCS), Alexandra Pardo (Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS), Susan Schaeffler (KIPP DC), and Leonard Upson (Community Academy PCS).
School Leaders are supported on the Board by At-large Members from the scholarly, business, and political communities of Washington, DC. At-large Members are George Brown (Center for Responsible Lending and Self-Help), Kaleem Caire (Next Generation Education Foundation), Kevin Chavous, Esq. (Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP), Don McGovern (retired from the technology industry), Malcolm Peabody (PT Management Company), Alice Rivlin, Ph.D. (Brookings Institution), and Luis Vasquez-Ajmac (Maya Communications).
The Association is immensely proud of the excellence, depth, breadth, and diversity of the Charter School Leaders on its Board -- which represents the range and reach of DC’s chartered public schools!
